Getaway to Lodge at Cordillera, Colorado

Getaway to Lodge at Cordillera, Colorado

posted in: Around Denver, Colorado, Travel | 1

This week I found myself gravitating towards peace, quiet and tranquility of mountains.  I decided to visit The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera, a luxury resort just outside Vail.  This would be a first time I am to travel alone with Gisela, who could ask for a better travel buddy than my cute little baby girl?

We arrived at about lunch time and were greeted by a magnificent view of a surrounding mountain valley visible right from the lobby.

Cordillera is perched high on a mountain offering stunning views from everywhere you look.  It’s in the most incredible location, nestled close to Vail but far enough to give you feeling of complete secludedness and one-on-one with nature.

Having unpacked our suitcases we slipped into our swimsuits and headed out for a late afternoon dip in the pool.  We took these chateau inspired stone cobbled stairs that led us towards the veranda and outdoor pool.

Gisela and I swam in the nice blue waters of the heated pool that reflected clouds and mountains.  Then I stretched out on the sun warmed lounge chair while Gisela played on the warm tiles next to me.

After a sip of some refreshing mint tea, we went to explore the path winding around the hotel and leading to a gazebo.

I see our room from here!

After sizzling in the hot high-altitude sun, we retreated into our hotel room.  Our room was very large with a fireplace and a patio opening to a beautiful view.

Ahhh how relaxing pick up a phone and order tasty dinner up to my room.

Next morning I woke up hungry and in desperate need of caffeine.  Gisela and I opted out for breakfast and some fresh air on a patio.  I highly recommend Colorado Honey Smoked Salmon Plate which comes with tomatoes, eggs, capers and rye bread.  Super yummyyyy, I regret not taking a picture before devouring it.

After a very lazy morning, I decided to do something more vigorous and went for a hike at beautiful mountains around  our lodge.

Gisela loved playing with the grass and refused to do selfies with me.

In the evening we cooled down by the pool and enjoyed watching changing colors of the sky from blue to pink sunset colors.
